Tailoring Socially Responsible Supply Chains.
Hello! I'm Nayantara. I am currently in the last semester of a graduate program at NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where I study social responsibility and human and labor rights in the global garment industry. I am also a Graduate Fellow at the Center for Business and Human Rights at NYU Stern School of Business, where I assist with research and advocacy work in the garment sector in Bangladesh. In addition to my studies, I am the founder and head seamstress of The Williamsburg Seamster, a small alterations and custom sewing studio in North Brooklyn specializing in custom bridal wear.
I'm interested in using my skills as a seamstress in combination with the tools I've collected during my studies to tailor capacity and skill building programs for garment workers, targeting specific workers' rights and worker engagement issues faced by brands within their supply chains.
When I'm not sewing or researching, I like exploring upstate New York and Maine, biking around Brooklyn, planning road trips, and making terrible jokes.
